Winger training

Wingers beat defenders 1v1, stretch the field and create or score. Speed with the ball, a weak foot and end product separate good wingers from great ones.

What we train

1v1 moves

Step-overs, scissors, cuts and changes of pace to get past defenders.

Dribbling at speed

Touches that keep the ball close while sprinting.

End product

Crossing, cutting inside to shoot and the final pass.

Movement without the ball

Runs in behind and timing the back-post run.

Common questions

What skills does a winger need?

1v1 dribbling, speed with the ball, crossing and finishing, plus the work rate to help defend.

Should a winger train their weak foot?

Yes. Wingers who can go both ways are much harder to defend.
